Early on in the process, the directors and shareholders of Lucayan realized that the level of petroleum industry expertise within the leadership of the company was insufficient to fully develop a project of this size and quality. Consequently, they turned for help to DAI in order to bolster Lucayan’s management team. DAI is a professional consulting firm specializing in the technical, economic, commercial, and financial aspects of the downstream petroleum industries, with expertise in refining, marketing, transportation, petrochemicals, and power. The Project’s original developer had previously engaged DAI to assist with the technical and commercial development of the Project, and commissioned the firm to produce a detailed economic evaluation. As a result, DAI had a high degree of familiarity with the Project, and knew that its fundamentals and financial prospects were strong, ultimately agreeing to invest in the project and to second two of its executives to run company.
